Downloadable Homework and Notes

On this page I post my notes from class, usually 2-3 days after the notes were introduced. Students must copy these notes into their notebooks by hand, even though they can be downloaded and printed out. To find the notes, go to "Files" at left and select the title or date that you need. (All these files are in Microsoft Word or Excel, so if your computer does not support these programs, it is unlikely that you will be able to download the files.) Please note that we will not be taking notes every day, so there will not be notes posted for every day of school.

Under "Web Links," also to the left, you will find links to any websites that students need for class or homework.

Classroom Policies

CLASSROOM POLICIES – LOCHER                                              SEPTEMBER 2009

Homework:

Every school day, I will assign Math homework. Students who are absent or lose the assignments may visit my website (http://mlocher.shschools.net/), where I post the assignments daily.

Homework must be turned in the day it is due, and all homework is graded for effort, not correctness. If a student is absent, I will give a reasonable amount of time to complete all the assignments.

Homework counts for 10% of the student’s final grade, and contributes to the Effort score on the student’s report card.

Tests and Quizzes:

Tests and quizzes (with the exception of occasional pop quizzes) will be announced at least two days ahead of time.

Students may retake any regularly scheduled tests or quizzes that they wish to, at no penalty, up until the end of the marking period. I will keep only the highest score a student earns on a particular test or quiz. Retakes may be done either Mondays after school (2:30-4:00 p.m.), or Wednesdays before school (6:30-7:30 a.m.). Students coming on Wednesday morning must inform me at least one day ahead of time.

Tests, quizzes, and class projects count for 90% of the student’s final grade.

Extra Help:

I offer extra help either after school on Mondays (2:30-4:00 p.m.) or before school on Wednesdays (6:30-7:30 a.m.). Students coming on Wednesday morning must inform me at least one day ahead of time.

Contacting Me:

The best way to contact me is via email (mlocher@shschools.com), the second best is by sending a note in with your child, and the worst is by phone. I typically check my email around 6:30 a.m., and respond immediately to any messages I get. If your child brings me a note, I can usually write back the same day (if I don’t have a meeting in the afternoon). If I must call you, please leave me a local number where I can reliably reach you between 6:30-7:30 a.m., or 1:30-2:00 p.m., and specify which time you would prefer to be contacted.

MyGradebook.com

I have subscribed to an online grading program called MyGradebook.com. This allows parents and students to check on their grades any time they have access to the Web. If you are interested in gaining access please email your request (including your student’s name and your choice of a password), and I will send you the login information in a day or two. This is a great way to keep track of students and make sure that their work is being turned in.
